After a series of National-level Constitutional Moot Court Competitions held by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MK-RI) at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). The prestigious event ended at 22.30 WIB on Wednesday (9/10/2019) in the BPH Meeting Room, Siti Walidah Main Building, UMS. The smooth and successful competition at the national level is, of course, thanks to the cooperation of various parties including the Faculty of Law (FH) UMS, Faculty of Law, Tarumanagara University (UNTAR) and the Indonesian Constitutional Court.
Muchamad Iksan, S.H., M.H as the Head of the UMS Law Studies Program during the closing remarks expressed his gratitude for the trust of the Republic of Indonesia Constitutional Court, for cooperating with the Faculty of Law UMS to cooperate in organizing the competition. Even though it was the first time it was held at UMS, from the beginning to the end, all the agendas went smoothly.
“Thank you also to UNTAR for sharing their knowledge, regarding the mechanism of the constitutional moot court competition in universities. Because UNTAR has often held this kind of competition. So hopefully this can be followed by other campuses,” said the UMS Law Lecturer.
In each competition, of course the most awaited event is the announcement of the winner. In this competition, the first winner for the Central Region, was won by a delegation from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with a final score of 818.75. This victory managed to lead the team to advance to the next round, against challengers from the winners of the West and East Regions. Then, the second place winner was won by a delegation from the University of North Sumatra (USU) with a final score of 812.5.
As previously known, as many as 12 universities are members of the Central Region, competing at UMS. This is an annual agenda of the Indonesian Constitutional Court, so at the end of the closing session, the Jury appealed to all Universities, to prepare to take part in the Constitutional Moot Court Competition in 2020.
