Postgraduate (SPS) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta has successfully graduated 3 Doctorates from the Doctoral Program in Legal Studies. The open exam was held on the 5th floor of the UMS Postgraduate Building on Thursday (28/11/2019) morning.
However, the open exam this time was different from the previous open exam. This time, the UMS Doctoral Program in Law graduated 3 Doctorates at once, namely Dr. Jaka Susila, Dr. Sigit Sapto Nugroho, and Dr. Yulias Erwin.
With this number, not all did the test. Only Jaka Susila had the opportunity for an open exam to receive questions from the examiners, namely Prof. Dr. Suteki, Prof. Dr. Aaron, as well as Dr. Click Wardiono. During the exam process, Jaka was able to answer easily in front of the examiners as well as many pairs of invited guests who were present to witness firsthand.
In his dissertation, Jaka took the title Right to Life in the Perspective of Human Rights Law: A Concept Study of Fulfilling the Right to Life Against Victims of Extra-Judicial Execution in Criminal Acts of Terrorism.
Jaka said in his research alluding that currently there are many study agendas that are presented behind closed doors. “If attending an ‘exclusive’ recitation can be used as an invitation to act of radicalism then you have no way out of running away from these accusations.” said Jaka during the open exam.
Jaka added that as self-strengthening so as not to fall into studies that use narratives with the ends of radicalism, Jaka reminded them to follow open-ended studies.
“Just take an open recitation.” said Jaka who was promoted by Prof. Dr. Absori and Co-Promoter Prof. Dr. Aidul Fitriciada Azhari and Dr. Nurhadiantomo.
Apart from Jaka, there are two who passed without taking the open exam, namely Dr. Sigit Sapto Nugroho, and Dr. Yulias Erwin. Both graduated by submitting an International Journal indexed by Scopus.
In accordance with the Decree of the Chancellor of UMS No. 120/II/2018, regarding the provisions of articles published in Scopus indexed International Journals, they are considered equivalent to a substitute for an open exam.
